Leadership in Action

Deacon Named Vice-Chair for BID 32

There’s nothing more important in community development than engaging local business owners and community residents in leading the initiatives that shape our neighborhoods. With that in mind, Adella Deacon, real estate investor and owner of Sable Law Group Wisconsin, put her name forward in the recent board elections for BID 32, the North Avenue Marketplace.

BID 32 is located in the Lindsay Heights neighborhood and represents a mix of local businesses dedicated to serving the North Avenue Marketplace corridor, which boasts successful community-centric businesses like the famous Fondy Farmer's Market and the longstanding Jake’s Delicatessen.

Plans to further develop the North Avenue Marketplace corridor include developments such as the Juice Kitchen at Wellness Commons Phase I, Alice's Garden, 1700 Pull Up restaurant at the historic Wally Schmidt Tavern, and the St. Ann Center Bucyrus Campus for Intergenerational Care, and headlines about the planned “Sears Market” at the Milwaukee Mall site have captured regional attention. Another major development, Eban, a professional and community hub in development at the old Interstate Blood Center site, is primed to further elevate the visibility and viability of the unique and historically resilient area.

Deacon is bringing a vision for community empowerment and locally-led change to her position as co-chair of BID 32, a position that she sees as an opportunity to amplify the myriad of projects gaining momentum in the area and make more widely-known the business development resources available to local business owners and entrepreneurs committed to serving the corridor and its community.

It’s important that the change driving Milwaukee’s development be led by local leaders who acknowledge a responsibility to the people–entrepreneurs, families, youth, and elders–who call this city home.
— Dr. Adella Deacon, Esq.

“When deciding to open the Sable Law Group Wisconsin office, I knew the move needed to mean more than just establishing an office to serve the city that I grew up in. I knew that coming home to Milwaukee needed to be about rolling up my sleeves and digging into the soil of this city, planting seeds in this city, and doing what I can to contribute to the blossoming of this city. I want to take an active role in the development of my community. It’s important that the change driving Milwaukee’s development be led by local leaders who acknowledge a responsibility to the people–entrepreneurs, families, youth, and elders–who call this city home.”

Adella has deep roots in the community BID 32 serves, as a resident of the area, she grew up less than ten minutes from where she’s established Sable Law Group Wisconsin’s offices. Her family, which features more entrepreneurs in their own right, are also committed to seeing the community thrive. Her brothers both run successful businesses, Milwaukee Advance Physical Therapy and Milwaukee Advanced Foot and Ankle Clinic, in the neighborhood, too!

With a clear vision and dedication to amplifying the richness of the resilient Lindsay Heights neighborhood and creating opportunities for other entrepreneurs, Adella is ready to make a difference for the community she calls home.
